San jose de buenavista: The surgical mission at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) in San Jose de Buenavista has already benefitted over 100 Antique±os since it began on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the surgical mission, which will continue until Friday, is an initiative organized by the World Surgical Foundation Philippines, Inc. (WSFP) and the Philippine College of Surgeons, Inc. (PCS). This effort is in partnership with the Antique provincial government through ASMGH, specifically aimed at serving indigent patients in the province.
Antique Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Health Officer 1, Dr. Leoncio Abiera Jr., stated that they screened 128 patients, with 45 scheduled for major surgeries, 43 for minor surgeries, and 40 for circumcision. Riena Nanglo-ngalo utilized this opportunity to have a cyst removed from the back of her son, Jessymar, which had been troubling him for about four years due to financial constraints. Expressing her gratitude, she said, "I am thankful that my son availed his needed surgery today for free."
Similarly, Merry Lopez brought his son Jomarie to the mission to remove a cyst on his thyroid, highlighting the financial challenges they faced even in affording basic necessities. The WSFP and PCS supported the mission with 13 surgeons, eight anesthesiologists, and one pathologist, alongside nurses and administrative staff dedicated to attending to the patients.
