Manila: Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. expressed hopes that the Holy Week will be a period of renewal and rest for all Filipinos, as they reflect on their faith and unity.
According to Philippines News Agency, Secretary Galvez delivered a heartfelt message on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of Holy Week for individuals of all faiths and backgrounds. He encouraged Filipinos to take this time to reflect on the Christian community’s call to unity, quoting 2 Corinthians 13:11: “Strive for full restoration, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”
He highlighted the significance of this period as a time for prayer, fasting, and penance, where Christians unite in celebrating Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and victory over sin and death. The OPAPRU chief urged the faithful to embody the teachings of Jesus Christ, serve as role models of faith, and extend help to those in need.
Secretary Galvez concluded his message with a prayer for hearts to be filled with love, kindness, and understanding as the Christian community journeys through the Holy Week towards the Resurrection.
