Manila: The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) got a boost in pursuing its mandate following the release of its initial operating budget. In a statement Wednesday afternoon, the ICI said the Office of the President (OP), acting on the recommendation of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), has approved the release of PHP41.481 million as its initial operating budget, chargeable to the 2025 Contingent Fund.
According to Philippines News Agency, the approved budget covers the Commission’s operational requirements and capital outlay until the end of 2025. The DBM has also approved the ICI’s staffing pattern and issued a favorable consideration for the creation of 172 contractual positions within the ICI.
“These approvals will enable the Commission to effectively and efficiently carry out its core mandates and functions under Executive Order No. 94,” it said, referring to the executive order creating the ICI. The ICI and the DBM are currently working on the other requirements for the immediate and prompt release and downloading of the approved funds.
