Manila: The Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO-5): announced on Friday the arrest in Cebu City of a ranking New People's Army (NPA) officer who was listed as the region's most wanted person this month.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda stated that the individual, known by the alias 'Rudy' and aged 54, was apprehended on Thursday. The arrest was executed based on warrants for two counts of murder, multiple counts of attempted murder, and arson. 'Rudy' has been identified as a medical officer of Squad 2, Platoon 1, Komiteng Larangang Gerilya-North, under the Sub-Regional Committee 4 of the Bicol Regional Party Committee.

The suspect, a native of San Fernando, Masbate, currently resides in Cebu City. Following his arrest, 'Rudy' was taken to Sub-Station 9 of the Cebu City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.

Brig. Gen. Miranda emphasized that PRO-5 remains committed to proactive, intelligence-driven actions to curb criminality and ensure the safety and security of communities in the Bicol Region.
