Cagayan de oro: The Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) has announced its commitment to enforce stringent disciplinary measures against police officers involved in misconduct, following a recent leadership change.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-10 spokesperson Maj. Joann Navarro revealed that several officers accused of engaging in unethical and abusive practices have been relieved of their duties and are currently under investigation. Allegations include officers in Cagayan de Oro who reportedly molested interns within a police precinct, as well as others supposedly collaborating with cigarette smugglers and illegal mining operations.

The complaints originated from an anonymous tip received through the 8888 Citizen's Complaint Center. Maj. Navarro emphasized the organization's zero-tolerance policy towards such behavior, stating, "We don't tolerate such behavior. Once found guilty of the violations, they shall be charged accordingly."

The crackdown on smuggled cigarettes and illegal mining was a significant focus for Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, the former PRO-10 Director, who served from October 2025 until his recent appointment as the head of the National Capital Region Police Office. Brig. Gen. Aaron Mandia has since taken over the leadership at PRO-10.
