NorMin Agencies Intensify Commodity Price Monitoring Amid Fuel Price Surge

Cagayan de oro: Government agencies in Northern Mindanao on Monday intensified their monitoring of basic commodities amid rising fuel prices to protect consumers. Fel Lester Brillantes, regional chief of the Consumer Protection Division of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-10), stated that daily price monitoring rotations have been implemented to ensure consumer protection.

According to Philippines News Agency, the monitoring efforts are being conducted in cooperation with various regional agencies. Brillantes emphasized the importance of conducting these daily checks, particularly in Cagayan de Oro City, to prevent overpricing and hoarding of supplies. He also mentioned that provincial and local government units have initiated their own strategies to address these issues.

Director Mylah Faye Aurora Cari±o of the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development-10 highlighted the need for energy resilience strategies tailored to the local economy. This approach aims to mitigate the impact of potential higher inflation in the coming quarters, ensuring economic stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Director Alexes Joseph Bendijo of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-10 announced plans to expedite the release of fuel subsidies to transport groups. The Department of Social Welfare and Development-10 has been tasked with assisting in the distribution of these subsidies, which is expected to commence in mid-April.
