Manila: The Armed Forces of the Philippines Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) has been placed on heightened alert in anticipation of Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-wong), which continues to intensify as it moves toward Luzon. Under the directive of Nolcom Commander Lt. Gen. Aristotle Gonzalez, all joint task forces and subordinate units have completed a full accounting of their search, rescue, and retrieval teams and have prepositioned key assets in strategic locations across Northern and Central Luzon.

According to Philippines News Agency, the proactive measures are part of Nolcom’s commitment to ensure swift humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations once the typhoon affects its areas of responsibility. To safeguard critical military resources, Nolcom has also begun the evacuation and relocation of essential assets, including air and naval units, from high-risk zones to safer locations to allow for immediate mobilization once weather conditions stabilize.

Lt. Gen. Gonzalez emphasized that all units are instructed to maintain close coordination with the Office of Civil Defense, local disaster risk reduction councils, and other government agencies. Nolcom assured the public of its full readiness to assist affected communities through rescue, relief, and recovery operations, reflecting the military’s continued dedication to protecting lives and ensuring public safety.
