No Cabinet Reshuffle, But President Marcos Examines DENR Secretary’s Records

Manila: Malaca±ang announced on Friday that there is currently no reshuffling of Cabinet officials, though President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is actively reviewing records concerning Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Raphael Lotilla.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated in a Palace press briefing that while there is no ongoing "rigodon" among Cabinet members, the President is closely inspecting Secretary Lotilla's records. Castro refrained from confirming any potential leadership changes within the DENR.

Castro explained that the review process involves examining the existing records and that updates will be shared once they are obtained. The review is particularly significant following Secretary Lotilla's appointment being bypassed by the Commission on Appointments (CA) for the third time.

In response to concerns from some senators about the number of Cabinet officials still serving in an acting capacity, Castro noted that President Marcos has directed that the names of appointees be submitted to the Commission on Appointments promptly.
