Quezon city: No bomb or suspicious object was found at the Quezon City Hall compound after authorities conducted a security sweep following a bomb threat sent through the city government's official Facebook page Thursday evening.

According to Philippines News Agency, the city government released a statement on Friday emphasizing its commitment to addressing such threats seriously and pledged to identify and hold accountable those responsible. 'Iniimbestigahan na ng QCPD (Quezon City Police District) upang matukoy ang pinagmulan ng naturang banta, katuwang ang PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (The QCPD is already investigating to determine the source of the said threat, in collaboration with the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group),' the statement read.

The city government assured, 'Tinitiyak namin na mananagot sa batas ang mga nasa likod nito. Hindi hahayaan ng Quezon City government ang paghahasik ng pananakot sa ating lungsod (We assure you that those behind this will be held accountable under the law. The Quezon City government will not allow the sowing of fear in our city).' Following the threat, a report was immediately filed with the QCPD and its Safety and Security Cluster, which conducted comprehensive inspections within the City Hall compound and all associated buildings.

The inspection revealed no suspicious objects or situations, and the local government reiterated the importance of refraining from making bomb jokes or using such threats to intimidate others. The public was encouraged to report any information related to the incident to the authorities or contact the QC Helpline 122.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Col. Allen Rae Co clarified that the Facebook post did not qualify as a bomb threat since it did not explicitly state what was allegedly planted. "This is very vague. Hindi niya rin clinaim na siya ang nagtanim - puwedeng lumalabas na it's just giving information to warn," Co explained to reporters during a press briefing in Camp Crame on Friday.

The post presented by Co read, "Hello Nagpm Ako. May Nakatanim Po Ngayon Sa Isa Sa Mga Cr Ng Quezon City Hall," and it was noted that the Facebook account used to make the post was created just a day earlier. "So, ito po ay another example of wasting the resources of the police dahil 'yong atin pong mga nag-sweep at 'yong ating mga nag-responde dito ay (because our sweepers and our responders) could have been doing something else," Co stated.

City Hall operations were back to normal on Friday, and the local government continued to urge individuals with any information about the incident to report it to authorities or through the city's Helpline 122.
