Bacolod: The National Housing Authority (NHA) has handed over 104 housing units to qualified government employees and overseas Filipino workers at the MassKara Village Government Employee Housing Project (GEHP) in Purok Badiang, Barangay Sum-ag. The turnover event, attended by NHA 6 (Western Visayas) manager Rizalino Cabahug and Negros Occidental district manager Claire De Lune Villanueva, also saw the presence of Mayor Greg Gasataya.
According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Gasataya emphasized the collaborative effort that brought the project to fruition and encouraged the new homeowners to value their new homes. The MassKara Village GEHP project is named after Bacolod's famous MassKara Festival, reflecting the city's cultural spirit.
Clemente Espina, president of the homeowners' association, led the beneficiaries in accepting the new housing units. Each duplex-type unit offers a 60-square-meter floor area on an 80-square-meter lot, featuring two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area, dining and kitchen space, and an open garage area.
The house and lot packages are available for PHP1.9 million through NHA's in-house financing, and PHP2.2 million via the Pag-IBIG Fund mortgage take-out (MTO). This initiative is part of a larger 500-unit socialized housing development spanning 7.3 hectares, aiming to provide affordable housing solutions.
Of the total units, 200 are available through NHA financing with the remaining 300 units offered through the Pag-IBIG Fund MTO. The entire project, costing PHP1.04 billion, accommodates adjustments for financing and inflation, as stated by Cabahug.
The project, executed by contractor Silver Dragon Construction, Lumber and Glass Supply, Inc., follows a phased construction and progressive turnover approach. This ensures ongoing development and structured delivery in line with sustainable housing production goals.
