Manila: Transmission lines and facilities nationwide are functioning at full capacity ahead of the fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday. ‘NGCP’s (National Grid Corporation of the Philippines) transmission lines and facilities are under normal operations,’ the power transmission operator stated in its 9 a.m. advisory.
According to Philippines News Agency, NGCP had earlier announced that its Overall Command Center was activated at 7 a.m. on Monday and will remain operational until 6 p.m. The command center is responsible for disseminating status reports on substations and transmission lines. This activation is part of NGCP’s preparations to secure power transmission operations and facilities during this year’s State of the Nation Address.
NGCP assured the public that contingency plans are in place to monitor and immediately address any grid disturbance. It stated that critical units, particularly System Operations (SO) and Operations and Maintenance (O and M
), will be fully staffed and operational. Personnel, including line crews, engineers, pilots, maintenance and testing teams, and other technical staff, are strategically positioned in NGCP substations to respond to any line trippings.
The company also mentioned that its Integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP) prescribes relevant measures to ensure the readiness of all power transmission facilities to handle emergencies during significant national events. NGCP assures the public of reliable power transmission services during this important event.
