New AirAsia PH Chief to Prioritize Stability Via Operational Growth

Manila: The new chief of low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines has announced plans to ensure sustained operational stability and expansion, focusing on strengthening its hubs, particularly in Cebu province, and expanding its list of destinations.

According to Philippines News Agency, changes and improvements will be overseen by the newly appointed president and general manager, Anna Victoria Lu. Her appointment was made public in a press statement on Tuesday. Lu emphasized the importance of maintaining operational stability, especially amidst global challenges such as the ongoing Middle East crisis and its impact on fuel costs, which continue to affect the aviation industry.

Currently, AirAsia Philippines operates in 26 destinations, comprising 14 domestic and 12 international routes. Lu highlighted the airline's commitment to democratizing air travel, aiming to enable more Filipinos to fly. She expressed her dedication to expanding AirAsia's reach and exploring new opportunities, leveraging her experience in both private and public sectors.

Moreover, Lu stated that rebuilding brand confidence is a priority, assuring passengers of the reliability and trustworthiness of the AirAsia experience. Notably, AirAsia Philippines reported a 14-percent annual increase in passengers flown in the first quarter of 2026.
