According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Manuel Sagarbarria announced that the provincial disaster council is bracing for the worst-case scenario by prepositioning manpower, food packs, and equipment. During a council meeting on Thursday, the governor highlighted the limitations of the provincial authority, noting that they cannot mandate the private sector to cease operations. He emphasized that the decision to cancel work on Friday rests with the management of private companies and establishments.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 has been issued for the capital and several parts of central and southern Negros Oriental. The weather bureau has predicted heavy rainfall ranging from 50 mm to 100 mm on Friday, raising concerns about potential flooding and landslides.
Emergency response teams, including police, coast guard, army, and fire protection personnel, are on standby. Public hospitals are equipped to serve as emergency charging stations, and family food packs have been strategically placed across the province. The governor has urged residents in high-risk areas to comply with calls for preemptive evacuation.
