NCSC Revives ‘Golden Heart’ Radio Show To Enhance Senior Citizen Engagement

Manila: The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) is bringing back its radio program 'Golden Heart: Puso para sa Seniors' as part of efforts to strengthen information access for older Filipinos, following a renewed partnership with the Presidential Broadcast Service-Bureau of Broadcast Services (PBS-BBS).

According to Philippines News Agency, the NCSC and PBS-BBS formalized the collaboration through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed on Wednesday by NCSC Chairperson and CEO Ma. Merceditas Gutierrez and PBS-BBS Director IV Fernando Amparo Sanga. Under the agreement, the second season of 'Golden Heart: Puso para sa Seniors' will air beginning Feb. 13 on Radyo Magasin 1278 kHz AM, with simultaneous streaming on the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of both NCSC and Radyo Magasin.

Radyo Magasin is the general information radio station of PBS-BBS, an attached agency of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO). The first season of the program also aired on Radyo Magasin. The weekly program will air every Friday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature discussions on senior citizen benefits, government services, health concerns, and other issues affecting older persons.

Gutierrez said the revival of the program underscores the commission's commitment to ensuring senior citizens remain informed about government programs and services designed for them. 'In an age where information moves rapidly, many of our senior citizens still rely on traditional and trusted platforms such as radio and government broadcasting,' Gutierrez said. 'Through this partnership, we are strengthening our ability to reach them where they are, in a language and medium they trust and understand,' she added.
