NCRPO Nets PHP113-M Illegal Drugs, Over 1K Suspects in January

Manila: The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested a total of 1,167 drug suspects and seized around PHP113 million worth of illegal drugs in January. NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin highlighted that 888 anti-illegal operations were conducted by various police districts in Metro Manila during the month.

According to Philippines News Agency, these operations are part of a sustained effort to dismantle illegal drug distribution networks in the region. In addition to drug-related arrests, the NCRPO apprehended 1,334 individuals with outstanding warrants, including 489 identified as "most wanted persons."

The NCRPO also targeted illegal gambling activities, arresting 1,793 individuals in 800 operations. These efforts led to the confiscation of PHP418,272.75 in illegal gambling paraphernalia and cash bets. The police also addressed the issue of loose firearms, conducting 204 operations that resulted in the arrest of 206 violators and the seizure of 209 unlicensed firearms.

Authorities enforced community ordinances, apprehending 272,251 violators and generating PHP79.19 million in penalties. Comparative crime statistics for the same period showed a 21 percent decline in focused crimes in Metro Manila, with 552 incidents reported last January compared to 435 this year.

Maj. Gen. Aberin stated that these accomplishments underline the NCRPO's continuous operational focus and commitment to maintaining public safety and order throughout Metro Manila.
