Nartatez Assures No Sudden Reshuffle in Philippine National Police

Manila: There will be no sweeping reshuffle in the Philippine National Police (PNP) following the promotion of Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to four-star general and elevation as full-fledged chief of the police force.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nartatez stated that stability will be maintained within the organization, although he emphasized that leadership movements are part of normal police service. "There is no abrupt or sweeping reshuffle. Any movement will be orderly, well-planned, and based on organizational needs," he said.

Under his leadership, Nartatez assured that existing anti-crime and community safety directives will remain in place, ensuring continuity in key operational units handling major crimes, counterterrorism, and internal security. "Leadership movement in the PNP is a normal process. Promotions, retirements, and operational requirements naturally result in adjustments. What's important is that our work continues without disruption," he added.

He urged senior officers and rank-and-file personnel to stay focused on their mandates, reinforcing that discipline, professionalism, and service to the people remain the core priorities of the PNP under his leadership. Nartatez took his oath before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Malaca±ang on Wednesday.

On the occasion of PNP Day, Nartatez reaffirmed the organization's commitment to delivering a visible, disciplined, and trusted service to the Filipino people. He assured President Marcos that the PNP will fully adhere to his directive to provide a "visible, disciplined, and trusted" service, emphasizing that law enforcement must remain under civilian authority.

"We take to heart the President's call for a visible, disciplined, and trusted police service. Ang mensahe ng ating Pangulo ay patunay na ang serbisyo ng pulisya ay dapat nakatuon sa tao at sa komunidad, habang pinapangalagaan ang integridad at propesyonalismo (Our President's message is proof that the police service must be focused on the people and the community, while preserving integrity and professionalism)," Nartatez said.
