Northern samar: The Northern Samar provincial government released a total of PHP1.33 million in stipends and allowances to 31 nursing scholars as part of its continuing commitment to support the province's future healthcare workforce. Each scholar received PHP43,000 to cover stipend, book, and uniform allowances, which are intended to help defray expenses as they enter the second semester of the academic year 2025-2026.
According to Philippines News Agency, the provincial government stated that the release of benefits in the first week of the year underscores the local government's sustained support for the scholars' education. The program aims to strengthen health service delivery in Northern Samar by supporting the education of local students who will eventually serve in the province's public hospitals after passing the nursing licensure examinations.
'Apart from the allowances directly given to the students, the provincial government also shoulders the scholars' related learning expenses, which are paid to partner schools upon compliance with documentary requirements,' the provincial government said. Scholars are expected to provide updates on their academic progress, share good practices, and encourage fellow scholars on effective financial and academic management.
The exchange was facilitated by the provincial government of Northern Samar Nursing Scholarship Program Technical Working Group.
