Manila: The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has conducted inspections at various bus terminals to ensure adherence to content regulations in public transportation, in preparation for the upcoming Undas holidays.
According to Philippines News Agency, the inspections took place on October 20, 27, and 29, carried out by the MTRCB-Monitoring and Inspection Unit. The initiative aimed to verify whether public utility vehicle operators and drivers were adhering to guidelines by screening only G (general audience) and PG (parental guidance) rated content within their vehicles. The MTRCB emphasized that this effort highlights the agency’s commitment to fostering responsible and age-appropriate viewing, especially in public spaces frequented by families and children.
The inspections were conducted in several key locations, including Manila, Caloocan, Buendia in Pasay, and Cubao in Quezon City. The MTRCB reported that no violations were found during these inspections. Additionally, informational tarpaulins were placed in waiting areas and materials were distributed to travelers to promote awareness.
MTRCB Chair and CEO Lala Sotto reiterated the responsibility of operators and drivers under Presidential Decree 1986 and the 2004 Revised MTRCB Implementing Rules and Regulations. Sotto emphasized the importance of providing a safe and family-friendly environment for commuters, particularly children, even while in transit. She urged the public to report any violations related to media content by reaching out to MTRCB through their official social media channels or via email.
