Mt. Province Cancels Lang-ay Festival Amid National Energy Emergency

Manila: The provincial government of Mountain Province has announced the cancellation of all the activities for the annual Lang-ay Festival, aligning with the national energy emergency directives.

According to Philippines News Agency, this decision follows the issuance of Executive Order 17-2026 and supports the National Energy Emergency declared by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. under Executive Order 110. The declaration came in response to the escalating fuel prices driven by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

Initially, the province had planned to scale down the festivities and apply energy-saving measures. However, the cancellation was decided as a priority to conserve energy and allocate resources to essential public services.

Despite the festival's cancellation, a brief yet meaningful commemoration will be held to honor the 59th Mountain Province Founding Anniversary on April 7. The Lang-ay Festival is celebrated for fostering fellowship, promoting peace, and embodying the province's spirit of community. It traditionally features highlights of indigenous culture, traditional dances, and community unity.
