Pasig city: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has partnered with Rizal Medical Center (RMC) to help provide healthcare to its personnel, especially while on duty. During the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) at the MMDA headquarters in Pasig City on Friday, MMDA Chair Don Artes emphasized the partnership's aim to safeguard the health and well-being of its workforce.
According to Philippines News Agency, several MMDA workers are assigned to field operations and face daily exposure to physical danger and health risks. Artes stated, "Our personnel are on the frontlines every day. They manage traffic, respond to emergencies, and maintain order on our roads. It is our duty to ensure that when they encounter risks in the line of duty, they have immediate access to quality medical care."
RMC chief Dr. Maria Rica Lumague highlighted the MMDA's role in maintaining public order and safety. She expressed that through this collaboration, they aim to provide accessible and quality medical services to help safeguard the health and well-being of MMDA personnel.
Last year, the MMDA and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) also signed a MOA for the continuation of collaborative efforts to boost public awareness and understanding of members' benefits. The partnership began in 2024 when the MMDA and PhilHealth signed an agreement to accredit the MMDA clinic as a Konsulta (Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama) primary care provider.
The benefits of the partnership include health risk screening and assessment, consultations, diagnostic and laboratory tests such as chest X-rays, fasting blood sugar tests, and electrocardiograms, as well as selected medicines for conditions like asthma, diabetes, and hypertension for MMDA employees and their dependents.
