MMDA and Marikina City Government Launch Revamped Recreational Park for Children and Seniors

Marikina: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Marikina City government have inaugurated the upgraded Jesus Dela Pe±a Recreational Park, enhancing green open spaces for children and senior citizens.

According to Philippines News Agency, this project aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s initiative to create livable and resilient communities by expanding public open spaces. MMDA Chair Romando 'Don' Artes emphasized that the park's rehabilitation marks the third project completed by the MMDA in Marikina, aiming to provide residents with a cleaner environment that supports physical and mental health, improves air quality, and offers a safe place for children to explore.

The ceremony was attended by Artes, Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro, and Marikina 1st District Representative Marcy Teodoro in Barangay Jesus Dela Pe±a. The park, covering 1,133.21 square meters, was designed and developed by the MMDA as part of its collaboration with 17 local government units in the National Capital Region to foster a greener environment.

The park's features include a two-story community chapel, a grand gazebo with benches and tables, landscaped plant boxes, and public restrooms. It is also equipped with outdoor gym equipment and playsets to cater to both children and senior citizens.
