Mindanao: The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) affirmed its full support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to accelerate priority projects identified by the regions, ensuring harmonized coordination across Mindanao, an official said Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, MinDA Secretary Leo Tereso Magno stated that the agency's role is to guarantee that regional priorities are not only heard but acted upon. His statement followed the President's recent meeting with the Regional Development Council in Region 9.
Magno expressed gratitude towards the administration for placing Mindanao at the center of national development, emphasizing the partnership between local communities and the national government.
He highlighted the need to advance infrastructure projects such as fish ports, road networks, ports, and airports to connect communities to markets and services. These investments are expected to reduce transport costs, enhance agricultural productivity, and open economic opportunities.
Magno mentioned that the Marcos Administration also complements these efforts with programs in education and skills training, which aim to equip more Filipinos with sustainable livelihoods, reinforcing Mindanao's role as a critical driver of national progress.
He also pointed out that the MinDA Board of Directors, which includes Regional Development Council chairs, provides a direct channel for integrating regional voices into national strategies.
By aligning regional aspirations with national strategies and encouraging private sector participation through its PPP Desk, MinDA aims to ensure that Mindanao's development agenda progresses with speed, coherence, and inclusivity.
