MH 370 Deep-Sea Search to Resume on December 30, Confirms Transport Ministry

Kuala lumpur: The deep-sea search for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH 370 will resume on December 30 this year, the Transport Ministry (MOT) announced Wednesday. The operation aims to locate the aircraft that vanished from radar on March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 passengers and crew on board.

According to Philippines News Agency, Ocean Infinity has confirmed to the government of Malaysia that it will recommence seabed search operations for a total of 55 days, to be carried out intermittently. The search efforts will focus on targeted areas assessed to have the highest probability of locating the aircraft, following the service agreement signed between the Government of Malaysia and Ocean Infinity on March 25.

The ministry stated that this latest development underscores Malaysia’s commitment to providing closure to the families affected by the disappearance. Despite one of the most extensive search operations in aviation history, led jointly by Malaysia, Australia, and China, the aircraft was not found within the primary search zone in the southern Indian Ocean.

Over the years, several pieces of aircraft debris confirmed or believed to be from MH 370 were discovered along coastlines in the western Indian Ocean, including in Madagascar and Reunion Island. The resumption of the search brings renewed hope to uncover the mystery surrounding the missing flight.
