Iloilo city: Megaworld Hotels and Resorts (MHR) is set to open its largest hotel in Iloilo City, the Belmont Hotel Iloilo, on June 24. The property, boasting 405 rooms, will increase MHR's total hotel room inventory in Iloilo by 25 percent.
According to Philippines News Agency, Belmont Hotel Iloilo's general manager, Joy Alonte, announced during a press launch in Para±aque City that the hotel will initially offer a promotional rate of PHP4,000 per night, including breakfast, for a minimum of three months. After this period, the pricing will revert to the standard rate of PHP7,000 per night. The hotel aims to attract both domestic and international business travelers due to its proximity to the Iloilo Convention Center.
Alonte emphasized that the hotel is designed for MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference, and Exhibition) events and is expected to draw a blend of local and international guests. Furthermore, Belmont Hotel Iloilo will be MHR's third Muslim-friendly hotel in the city and its first to seek Halal certification, with efforts underway to meet the Department of Tourism's accreditation requirements.
MHR Cluster general manager Avinash Menon highlighted the significance of the new property, stating that it signifies MHR's confidence in Iloilo's growth, which is evident through rising investments, business activities, and tourism events. He noted that the hospitality sector tends to follow such growth, and MHR's ongoing expansion reflects the confidence seen from both public and private sectors.
The hotel includes a ballroom accommodating up to 300 guests, which can be divided into four distinct event spaces. Guests can also enjoy a modern Ilonggo dining experience at Belmont Cafe, which serves up to 108 guests and includes a 14-seat private room. Additional amenities include the Zabana Bar and the Float Bar. Notably, 90 percent of the hotel's 200 associates are local hires, including many returning hospitality professionals from the Philippines and abroad.
