Mawab: The municipality of Mawab in Davao de Oro has initiated a PHP1,000 cash gift program for every registered senior citizen on their birthday, as announced by Mayor Myrill Apit.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Apit stated that this initiative is a part of a larger agenda aimed at enhancing social protection for the elderly population. In an interview, Mayor Apit emphasized that in Mawab, senior citizens, referred to as "lolos" and "lolas," are not only remembered but also honored.

The program is viewed as a gesture of recognition for the lifelong contributions of senior citizens and reflects the local government's commitment to inclusive governance. Mayor Apit further mentioned that the local government unit is dedicated to sustaining programs that promote the welfare and dignity of seniors.
