Malaca±ang: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has not yet made a decision regarding an invitation from United States President Donald Trump to join an international Board of Peace (BOP).
According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that no meetings or commitments have been finalized concerning the invitation. 'Sa ngayon po ay wala pa pong napa-finalize na anumang tungkol sa meeting,' Castro stated during a Palace briefing, indicating that discussions are still in progress.
Philippine Ambassador to the U.S., Jose Manuel Romualdez, previously disclosed that Trump, through the White House, extended a personal invitation to Marcos to become a member of the BOP. This board was introduced at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland in January and is promoted as a crucial element of a U.S.-led initiative aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza and reinstating regional peace and stability. Currently, Indonesia and Vietnam are the only Southeast Asian countries participating in the body.
