Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday extended birthday greetings to United States President Donald Trump, expressing hope for stronger Philippines-U.S. relations in the years ahead. In a message posted on his official social media accounts, Marcos wished Trump good health, happiness, and continued success.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos conveyed his well-wishes by stating, "Happy Birthday, President Trump. On behalf of the Filipino people, I wish you good health, happiness and continued success in the year ahead." The message underscores the importance Marcos places on the relationship between the two nations.

The President acknowledged Trump's influence on both domestic and international affairs. He remarked, "Your leadership continues to shape the direction of the United States at a consequential moment in its history, while influencing developments and discussions on many of the most pressing issues facing the international community today."

Marcos also expressed hope that the long-standing alliance between Manila and Washington would continue to deepen. He stated, "May the enduring friendship between the Philippines and the United States continue to grow stronger in the years ahead."

Trump is celebrating his 80th birthday Sunday (Monday, Manila time) by hosting a UFC fight on the White House lawn. This event marks a unique celebration of the milestone.

The Philippines and the U.S. share a decades-long treaty alliance anchored on the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty. In recent years, the two countries have expanded defense cooperation through the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), increased joint military exercises, and broader collaboration on economic, security, and regional issues.

The U.S. also remains one of the Philippines' largest trading partners and a key ally in efforts to promote peace, stability, and a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region.
