Datu odin sinsuat: The mayor of Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao del Norte has implemented a stringent ban on the sale, display, and consumption of alcoholic beverages within the town, fulfilling a campaign promise made to constituents. This new regulation was enforced on Wednesday, marking a significant move in line with the mayor's commitment to uphold Islamic principles in the community.
According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Baba Abas communicated the new policy directly to vendors during a visit to the public market, stating, "Bawal ang alak at inuming nakakalasing sa Datu Odin Sinsuat (Alcohol and intoxicating drinks are prohibited in Datu Odin Sinsuat)." The mayor emphasized that this prohibition is consistent with Islamic teachings and is a step towards aligning the town's practices with these religious guidelines.
Vendors were informed that they have a final opportunity to return their existing stock of alcoholic beverages to their suppliers. However, any future violations will result in the confiscation of goods and the imposition of penalties. Mayor Abas reiterated his stance, saying, "This is my election campaign promise: alcohol is against Islam, and it is prohibited in Datu Odin Sinsuat."
To formalize this ban, the mayor plans to issue an executive order, ensuring that the prohibition is firmly established across the town.
