Madis and Aludo Advance to Second Round in Philta Visayas Women’s Open

San carlos: Southeast Asian Games doubles bronze medalists Tennielle Madis and Stefi Marithe Aludo marched to the second round of the inaugural Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) Women's National Open at the San Carlos Tennis Center in Negros Occidental. The top-ranked Madis dominated Daydo Laguda, 6-0, 6-0, to progress and will face Althea Faye Ong, who defeated Alexia Virgo with a 6-1, 6-0 scoreline.

According to Philippines News Agency, Aludo, seeded No. 2, overpowered Geselyn Constancio, 6-1, 6-0, setting up a second-round clash with Mica Emana, who emerged victorious over Juvilyn Barquin with a 6-2, 6-0 win. The tournament also saw third seed Tiffany Nocos and fourth seed Kaye Ann Emana advance to the subsequent rounds.

Nocos easily overcame Sindette Elentores, 6-0, 6-0, and will face sixth seed Nina Angeline Alcala, who secured a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Mitchellen Cruspero. In another match, Kaye Ann Emana, who defeated Louise Mongcal, 6-1, 6-0, is set to compete against No. 8 Loraine Jallorina, who triumphed over Dianne Nocos, 6-0, 6-0.

Meanwhile, tournament director Engel Regondola announced the doubles draw will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Madis and Aludo, members of the Philippine Tennis Academy led by sports patron Romy Chan, are the top seeds in the competition.
