LTO Summons ‘Gas-and-Run’ Driver in Bacolod City

Bacolod city: The Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) on Tuesday served a show-cause order (SCO) to the driver involved in a "gas-and-run" incident in this city.

According to Philippines News Agency, the LTO-NIR stated that the registered vehicle owner is a female resident of Barangay Salvacion, located in the neighboring municipality of Murcia, Negros Occidental. The SCO was delivered to her residence and was accepted by a family member, as the vehicle owner was not present at the time. Subsequently, an LTO-NIR staff member explained the contents of the order to the vehicle owner through a phone call.

The LTO-NIR Intelligence and Investigation Unit initiated action following a viral video that showed a multipurpose vehicle quickly leaving a gas station without paying for fuel. The incident was documented in a report by the Bacolod City Police Office Station 7, identifying that the "gas-and-run" event occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. on February 27 at the Red K gas station in Barangay Mansilingan.

DJ Harold Cabo, the gas station manager, reported the occurrence to authorities the next day. Cabo stated that the driver requested PHP500 worth of unleaded gasoline and then fled towards Murcia Road without settling the payment.
