LTO Issues Show Cause Order Against SUV Driver in Pampanga Road Rage Incident

Pampanga: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order (SCO) against the owner and driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV involved in a road rage incident in Guagua, Pampanga. The incident, which has caused danger and inconvenience to other motorists, was captured on a viral video circulating on social media.

According to Philippines News Agency, the video shows the Land Cruiser, carrying several men, deliberately blocking another motorist on a public road. In response to this incident, the LTO has taken preventative measures by suspending the driver's license for 90 days and placing the vehicle on alarm status.

The LTO's Office of Intelligence and Investigation Division may impose penalties if the driver and owner are found liable for offenses such as reckless driving, obstruction of traffic, and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. The LTO emphasized that failure to attend the proceedings or submit a written explanation would be considered as consent to proceed without their presence, and any decision would be based on the evidence available. The involved parties have the option to seek legal representation for their defense.

The incident gained widespread attention after motoring vlogger and journalist James Deakin posted the video on his Facebook page, further highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
