LTO Grants Penalty-Free Vehicle, License Renewals for Next 3 Months

Quezon city: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has granted drivers and motorists a reprieve, allowing them to renew their license and car registration without penalty over the next three months, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, acting Transportation Secretary Giovani Lopez announced at a news forum in Quezon City that the DOTr has ordered the implementation of a moratorium. This moratorium covers driver's licenses, including student and conductor permits, as well as car registrations set to expire this month. It is part of the government's relief measures.

Lopez stated, 'We gave an instruction sa LTO to basically give a moratorium. for the next three months. Pwede sila mag-rehistro, kumuha ng lisensya without any penalties (We instructed the LTO to basically give a moratorium... for the next three months. They can register and get their license without any penalties).'

The reprieve is in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to introduce transport relief measures. These measures aim to ease the burden on public utility drivers, operators, and commuters amid disruptions caused by the Middle East crisis.
