Manila: A low pressure area (LPA) is being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday, but is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone, the weather bureau said. As of 3 p.m., the LPA was located 925 kilometers east of southeastern Mindanao. The LPA's trough will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms across Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.
According to Philippines News Agency, moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. Meanwhile, the prevailing easterlies will continue to cause fair weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms across Luzon and the Visayas.
PAGASA said the rest of Mindanao will also experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are forecast throughout the archipelago.
