Pandacan: The 10th Good Earth Day Festival officially opened in Pandacan, Manila with a covenant signing that brought together local government officials, cultural workers, civic leaders, and community advocates in a unified commitment to environmental accountability and the protection of natural resources.
According to Philippines News Agency, the event was organized by the Samahang Sining at Kultura ng Pilipinas (SSKPil) and the three-day festival commenced at Liwasang Balagtas with the theme: 'Malinis na Konsensya, Malinis na Kapaligiran, Mayamang Kalikasan.' The covenant signing, which served as the highlight of the festival's opening day, underscores the shared responsibility of public officials and citizens in promoting environmental protection through transparent governance and the proper, mindful use of public funds.
Beyond symbolic commitment, the festival aims to strengthen public awareness that preserving nature begins with accountability, integrity, and collective action. "Kailangan magsama-sama ang sambayanan, mula sa mga opisyal ng pamahalaan hanggang sa ating mga karaniwang mamamayan, upang paigtingin ang ating pagpapahalaga sa kalikasan. Bantayan natin ang isa't isa. Lalo na ang mga nasa puwesto. Kung sama-sama, mas magkakaroon sila ng konsensya na gamitin pera ng bayan para sa taumbayan at sa kalikasan," program director Jessie Villabrille stated in a news release.
Festival activities included booths featuring environmental advocates, sustainable products, and partner organizations aligned with ecological preservation efforts, as well as raffle activities for festival-goers and cultural performances throughout the celebration. All interested participants are encouraged to join the celebration at Liwasang Balagtas and take part in advancing a cleaner, greener, and more accountable future for the community.
