Batangas: 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste has resigned as a member of the Board of Directors of SP New Energy Corporation, formerly known as Solar Philippines Nueva Ecija Corporation (SPNEC).
According to Philippines News Agency, SPNEC disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange that it received a letter from Leviste dated January 23, 2026, announcing his immediate resignation. The letter was received on the same day.
In a related development, Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (MTerra Solar), which is affiliated with Meralco Power Gen Corporation (MGEN) and SPNEC, announced earlier in the day that Leviste would be replaced on its board by MGEN President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Rubio, effective January 21.
The company explained that the board changes are part of MTerra Solar's progression towards commissioning and the initial delivery of power from its flagship solar project into the national grid. The reorganization is intended to align board leadership with operational readiness and governance as the project nears commercial operations.
MTerra Solar recently achieved a grid cut-in with its 500-kilovolt substation along the Nagsaag-San Jose 500-kV transmission line. The first phase of energization is scheduled to commence this quarter, with plans to increase capacity to 1,500 megawatts by August this year.
