Legazpi Diocese Condemns Killing of Radio Broadcaster

Legazpi: The Diocese of Legazpi condemned on Thursday the killing of radio broadcaster Noel Samar, who died after he was shot by an unidentified gunman along Maharlika Highway in Guinobatan, Albay, earlier this week.

According to Philippines News Agency, Bishop Joel Baylon expressed the diocese’s grief and solidarity with those denouncing the act and demanding justice and accountability for this violent episode. The clergy and laity of the Diocese of Legazpi have extended their condolences and prayers to the family, friends, and colleagues of Samar. Baylon emphasized the importance of defending the sanctity of life, pursuing truth, and working toward peace grounded in justice and Christian love.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) Director Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. has initiated a comprehensive investigation to resolve the case. Babagay assured that the Special Investigation Task Group Samar is making intensive efforts to solve the case and bring justice to the victim’s family. He emphasized the police force’s determination and focus on protecting the community, affirming that impunity will not be tolerated in the region.
