Manila: The Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) has approved 21 legislative measures targeted for passage by June this year as part of efforts to strengthen governance and restore public trust.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) announced that two of the measures included in the Common Legislative Agency (CLA) focus on addressing critical national issues. These are the Amendments to the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSEAC) and the Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act, aimed at enhancing the capacity of law enforcement to tackle emerging technologies.
Another significant measure is the Anti-Fake News and Digital Disinformation Act, which seeks to penalize the malicious and deliberate spread of false information that could threaten public order or national security. Furthermore, the Travel Tax Abolition measure aims to lower travel expenses, thereby boosting the tourism sector.
LEDAC has also proposed the immediate approval of the measure to reset the First Regular Elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Additionally, the Anti-Political Dynasty Act and proposed reforms to the Party-list System are part of the agenda, with the goal of strengthening democratic processes through fairer and more inclusive political representation.
Also included are the Independent People's Commission Act and proposed reforms to the Bank Deposits Secrecy Law, targeting the strengthening of accountability and fighting corruption by enabling comprehensive investigations and removing barriers to uncovering financial irregularities.
Other notable items on the list include the CADENA Act and the Right to Information Act, which aim to institutionalize transparency and accountability in governance by ensuring public access to government financial data and information. DEPDev Secretary Arsenio Balisacan emphasized the administration's commitment to reforms that ensure every peso spent benefits the Filipino people through stronger oversight mechanisms and real-time budget transparency.
Furthermore, measures aimed at improving resource management in energy, agriculture, water, and fiscal sectors are also part of the approved measures. "Looking ahead, we see 2026 as our rally point. To regain our stride, we must act decisively to restore public trust through better governance and stronger public service delivery-improvements that Filipinos can see and feel in their daily lives," Balisacan added.
Meanwhile, 31 other measures have been included in the CLA, covering a range of topics such as land use, taxation, education, digital payments, infrastructure, and many more, reflecting a comprehensive approach to national development and governance reform.
