Larga Pilipinas Cycling Tournament Rescheduled to November

Manila: The Larga Pilipinas cycling tournament has been rescheduled to a later date due to the severe effects of the inclement weather over the past weeks. The six-day race, originally scheduled to start on Aug. 2, will now kick off on Nov. 29.

According to Philippines News Agency, Larga Pilipinas operations head Snow Badua discussed the decision during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) forum at the conference hall of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila. Badua explained that many areas in Northern Luzon, especially in the Cordilleras, are currently isolated due to heavy rains, making it necessary to postpone the event.

Badua emphasized that Northern Luzon has been significantly affected, necessitating coordination with local government units and a recommendation from PhilCycling president Abraham Tolentino to delay the tournament. He noted that the weather in November should be more favorable for conducting the races safely.

Badua stressed the importance of allowing the typhoon season to pass, giving local government units the opportunity to address the current situation without additional concerns from the race. All participating teams, including international ones that were scheduled to arrive shortly, have been informed of the rescheduling.
