Laguna to Launch Free Chemotherapy in April

Santa cruz: The Laguna provincial government will offer free chemotherapy treatments to help patients battling cancer who cannot afford the steep costs starting this April. Governor Sol Aragones announced the initiative Monday during her inspection of the new Chemotherapy Center site, adjacent to the Dialysis Center at Laguna Medical Center in Santa Cruz town. Preparations are underway for its grand opening this April.

According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Aragones emphasized the importance of this initiative for the residents of Laguna, noting that it addresses a critical need for accessible cancer treatment within the province. 'For years, families have traveled outside the province or abandoned treatment altogether due to financial hardship. This facility directly addresses that painful reality for our cancer patients,' Aragones said in Filipino.

She further explained that the project is part of a broader, long-term plan to advance healthcare in the province. 'Slowly, one by one, we will achieve this too. I won't give up or stop as long as there's a way to save many lives,' she added.

Former Department of Health Undersecretary Dr. Eric Tayag, who is now the province's health consultant, mentioned that the center will have the capacity to treat up to 40 patients daily, highlighting the significant impact this facility will have on the community.
