Quezon city: Issa Ousseini came out with his best form to lead De La Salle University to a 25-20, 25-20, 26-28, 33-31 victory over Adamson University in the UAAP Season 88 men's volleyball tournament at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Saturday. The 6-foot-2 middle blocker from Cameroon led the Green Spikers with a career-high 26 points on 22 attacks and four blocks.
According to Philippines News Agency, Eugene Gloria chipped in 17 points, 20 excellent receptions, and 10 digs followed by Rui Ventura with 15 points on 12 attacks and three blocks. The victory put La Salle in a tie for fourth place with Ateneo de Manila University at 4-4.
The Blue Eagles earlier won over the University of Santo Tomas Golden Spikers, 26-24, 25-18, 22-25, 16-25, 15-9. Reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Kennedy Batas finished with 19 points, 23 excellent receptions and seven digs for Ateneo, which avenged its 25-19, 24-26, 25-21, 24-21, 11-15 loss to UST in the first round.
MVP race leader Josh Yba±ez had 21 points, 11 excellent receptions and eight digs for the Golden Spikers, who stayed in third place with a 5-3 record. Far Eastern University is on top of the standings with an 8-0 slate followed by National University, sporting a 6-3 card. Adamson and University of the Philippines share fifth place at 2-6 while University of the East is at the bottom with a 1-7 record.
