January Drug Operations Yield PHP3.3 Million in Illegal Drugs and 130 Arrests in Caraga

Caraga: The Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13) arrested 130 drug suspects and seized PHP3.3 million worth of illegal drugs in January, according to data released Friday. Of the total drugs confiscated, 488 grams were shabu substance and 1.91 grams were dried marijuana plants. A total of 113 anti-illegal drug operations were also conducted, 92 of which were through buy-bust.

According to Philippines News Agency, data from PRO-13 showed that of the total arrested suspects, 30 were classified as high-value individuals and 100 were street-level individuals. "The campaign against illegal drugs remains one of the top priorities of PRO-13," PRO-13 spokesperson Maj. Jennifer Omiter said in an interview on Friday. She recognized the support of communities in the success of the operations and the arrests of the suspects. "We continue to strengthen our partnership with other law enforcement agencies and communities to carry on with our mission of ensuring the safety and security of the people in the region," Omiter added.

The Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) scored the highest seizure during the period, with 163.7 grams of shabu and 0.21 grams of marijuana valued at PHP1.1 million; followed by Surigao del Sur PPO with 118 grams of shabu worth PHP802,400; and the Butuan City Police Office with 87.5 grams of shabu worth PHP595,000. The Agusan del Norte PPO confiscated 73.79 grams of shabu worth PHP501,772; Agusan del Sur PPO with 44.4 grams of shabu and 1.7 grams of marijuana worth PHP304,368; and Dinagat Islands PPO with 0.8 grams of shabu worth PHP5,440.
