Manila: Infrastructure and agricultural damage attributed to the combined effects of tropical cyclones Luis, Maymay, and Neneng, along with the southwest monsoon (habagat), has already breached the PHP7.8-billion mark, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced Thursday. Of the total damages, approximately PHP5.95 billion is attributed to infrastructure, while around PHP1.86 billion affects agriculture.

According to Philippines News Agency, the NDRRMC reported that infrastructure damage occurred in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas. Meanwhile, agriculture suffered in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.

In a separate update, the Office of Civil Defense stated that the series of severe weather disturbances affected 7.7 million people, equivalent to 2.2 million families, across 10 regions. The cost of assistance provided to the affected communities has reached approximately PHP1.56 billion.

The death toll, currently under validation, remains at 31, with 19 individuals injured and three reported missing. The number of damaged houses is estimated at around 2,500, with 340 houses reported as destroyed.
