Iloilo city: This highly urbanized city will, for the first time, hold a fair showcasing health and wellness tourism. Executive Assistant Dr. Candice Magdalane Tupas, who leads the health and wellness tourism campaign for the city government, emphasized the event's focus on three main components: physical, mental, and emotional health.
According to Philippines News Agency, Dr. Tupas noted at a media briefing that health and wellness have become crucial areas of interest. 'Health and wellness now are very important. We found out that Gen Z doesn't spend on things; they don't really spend on gadgets. But their luxury is health and wellness,' Tupas stated.
The three-day event, scheduled for March 26-28, will include panel discussions, presentations, and booths catering to all age groups. Topics for discussion will cover general wellness, weight management, senior citizen care, nutrition, and health issues specific to women and men.
Dr. Tupas highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, citing a World Health Organization report that states one in ten children is obese. 'Aside from the problem of malnutrition, obesity is really a problem. So, it's important for all of us to maintain a healthy lifestyle and maintain the proper weight,' she added.
The fair will also feature health and wellness circuits, ranging from budget-friendly to free wellness areas, as well as other wellness hubs in the province of Iloilo. Notably, the hyperbaric oxygen team from St Paul's Hospital, known for its wellness approach and being the largest in Panay, has been invited.
The event will conclude with a walkathon and a panel discussion hosted by the Iloilo Medical Society.
