The Ilocos Police has confiscated a total of PHP94.2 million worth of shabu and marijuana in 191 anti-illegal drugs operations in February this year.
According to Philippines News Agency, Maj. Divina Albino, chief of the Police Regional Office-1 (PRO1) information office, stated that the amount comes from the confiscated 849.44 grams of shabu, 101.21 grams of dried marijuana, 18 grams of marijuana kush, and four milliliters of liquid marijuana. In addition to these, the marijuana eradication operations led to the discovery and destruction of 388,072 pieces of marijuana plants, 111,100 pieces of seedlings, 31,000 grams of marijuana stalks, and 20,000 grams of marijuana fruiting tops, with a total estimated value of PHP88 million.
Maj. Albino noted that the bulk of the operations were concentrated in the Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur provinces. A total of 203 suspects were arrested during these operations in February.
PRO-1 director Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes emphasized the commitment to intensify anti-illegal drugs operations as per the national government's directive. 'Alinsunod sa direktiba ng pambansang pamahalaan, lalo pa nating paiigtingin ang anti-illegal drugs operations upang matiyak na ang bawat barangay sa rehiyon ay mananatiling ligtas, maayos, at malaya sa impluwensya ng ipinagbabawal na gamot (In line with the directive of the national government, we will further strengthen our anti-illegal drugs operations to ensure that every barangay in the region will remain safe, orderly, and free from the influence of illegal drugs),' he said in a statement.
