Ilocos norte: Ilocos Norte's provincial government, through its Office of Barangay Affairs, is pushing for digital transformation in its 559 villages, starting with the updating of barangay data sheets. Ryan John Pascua, provincial ABC president in Ilocos Norte, emphasized at Tuesday's Liga ng mga Barangay meeting at the Capitol Session Hall that ABC presidents from 21 towns and two cities should promptly update their barangay data sheets and share information to ensure accuracy.
According to Philippines News Agency, there is a concerted effort to enhance the delivery of government services on the ground. 'There is a need to update the barangay data sheet to speed up the delivery of government services at the grassroots levels,' Pascua said during the meeting. In support of the provincial government's digitalization program, Katrina Agulay, a representative of OBA, mentioned that an online questionnaire will be dispatched to gather necessary data from village workers or frontliners.
The online questionnaire will collect essential information including the number of village workers, household counts per sub-village, families, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, overseas Filipino workers (active, inactive, repatriated), Indigenous Peoples representatives, and the top three village projects for the next three years. This data is deemed crucial for planning and implementing future barangay programs and services.
Katrina Agulay emphasized that having comprehensive data in the barangay will contribute to the efficient delivery of services and help minimize errors, such as avoiding 'double entry' of target beneficiaries. This initiative is part of a broader push, which began in January, to migrate the provincial government to a new digital system. The aim is to improve digital infrastructure, secure data, and enhance e-governance for local agencies, including remote villages, schools, and businesses.
