Ilocos norte: The Ilocos Norte provincial government, in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), has initiated a program to promote educational tours for learners across the province.
According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative, named 'Pasyar: Open Ilocos Norte Tours for Pupils,' is scheduled to take place from February 4 to 20, 2026. This program is a significant part of the month-long celebration marking the 208th foundation anniversary of Ilocos Norte.
Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos expressed that the Pasyar tour is designed to help younger residents of Ilocos Norte become more familiar with their province. She highlighted that many students, particularly those from remote areas, have not had the opportunity to visit notable sites within the province, including the Laoag International Airport, Currimao seaport, and the Ilocandia Cultural Center.
The program aims to provide students with direct exposure to various government offices, heritage sites, and tourism destinations. Additionally, it seeks to pair northern municipalities with southern towns to promote cross-provincial engagement and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of local governance and culture.
