Iligan city: The Iligan City government received PHP56 million in financial assistance from the Office of the President under the newly launched "Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang" program to aid in recovery efforts from recent flooding, officials announced Tuesday. Mayor Frederick Siao said the allocation, which falls under the rice program, is designed for direct and digitized release to ensure immediate implementation. "We can start the immediate implementation of our projects," Siao said in a statement. The city is recovering from flooding brought by tropical cyclone Basyang early this month. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Public Works and Highways to expedite assessments and address the city's needs. Also on Tuesday, Vice President Sara Z. Duterte met with Siao to distribute relief packs to remaining evacuees in evacuation centers. Senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Jinggoy Estrada also visited in previous days to distribute relief packs to affected families.

According to Philippines News Agency, the financial assistance aims to facilitate swift recovery in Iligan City, ensuring that the funds are used efficiently to address the immediate needs of the affected residents. The program highlights the government's commitment to supporting communities impacted by natural disasters through timely interventions and resource allocations. Efforts are being coordinated at various levels of government to ensure that all available resources are mobilized effectively for the city's recovery.
