Quezon city: The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has been recognized as the country's best city police office for the second consecutive year, while the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) secured a spot among the Top 5 performing provincial offices.
According to Philippines News Agency, ICPO officer-in-charge Col. Wilbert Parilla received the prestigious award from Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, representing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., alongside Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla Jr. and PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. The ceremony took place during the 1st PNP Day 2026 celebration at Camp Crame in Quezon City. This accolade echoes a similar honor awarded to the ICPO on August 12, 2025, during the 124th Police Service Anniversary at the same venue.
Col. Parilla extended his gratitude to his predecessor, Col. Kim Legada, as well as the dedicated personnel of the ICPO, the local government of Iloilo City, and the community for their unwavering support. He emphasized that the recognition is a testament to the hard work and professionalism of every ICPO member, highlighting the strong partnership with local stakeholders. Parilla affirmed the office's commitment to continue serving with honor to ensure the safety and security of Iloilo City.
Meanwhile, the IPPO is set to receive its award as the best Provincial Police Office (PPO) in Western Visayas during the PNP Day celebration of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) on February 2. IPPO director Col. Bayani Razalan will also be honored as the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer, while Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit chief Maj. Dadje Delima will receive the award for Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Western Visayas.
Both the provincial police office, Razalan, and Delima have been recognized among the Top 5 at the national level. Col. Razalan attributed the accolades to the IPPO's relentless anti-criminality efforts, which have resulted in a significant reduction in index crimes in Iloilo. He noted the high crime clearance and solution efficiency rates, surpassing the national headquarters' minimum requirements.
