House Honors Life and Legacy of Late Rep. Romeo Acop

Manila: The House of Representatives on Monday stood united in grief and gratitude as Speaker Faustino 'Bojie' Dy III led the chamber in honoring the life and legacy of the late Antipolo City 2nd District Rep. Romeo Acop. In his eulogy, Dy honored Acop as a lawmaker who lived a life of integrity, quiet strength and genuine public service.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dy expressed that the loss is deeply felt within the House, not just because of a departed colleague but a cherished friend and brother who dedicated his heart to public service. He emphasized the collective mourning and appreciation of Acop's contributions, highlighting his integrity and unwavering commitment to his principles.

Dy described Acop as a man whose strength was not in loud words or self-promotion, but in his firm convictions and clear principles. He noted that Acop did not seek attention but was always a significant presence, especially when courage was needed, guided by conscience rather than convenience.

Throughout his public service, Acop's integrity remained steadfast, with his actions driven by a commitment to the people he served rather than personal recognition. Dy pointed out that Acop's care and sense of responsibility were evident in every question he asked and every decision he made, reminding everyone that the essence of public service lies in honesty, humility, and doing what is right.

Beyond his legislative duties, Acop made a profound impact through his quiet assistance to families and communities, acts that may not have garnered headlines but resonated deeply with those he helped. Addressing Acop's bereaved family, Dy acknowledged the enormity of their loss but assured them that Acop's legacy lives on within the institution and those who had the honor of working with him.

Dy concluded by noting that Acop's life serves as a reminder that true service is not about titles or power but about integrity, humility, and genuine care for others.
