Makati city: A ham manufacturer has informed the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of a possible price rollback this Christmas season. Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque shared this information but declined to identify the company, citing pending price adjustment applications from other companies.
According to Philippines News Agency, Roque mentioned that the DTI is actively encouraging manufacturers to avoid price increases for Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) items. She conveyed this message to journalists during the Federation of Philippine Industries Inc. Business Summit in Makati City. Roque highlighted that while manufacturers typically request price hikes annually, the department is urging them to maintain steady prices to protect consumers in the current economic climate.
Roque further noted that the DTI is awaiting official requests from several manufacturers before releasing any data on price adjustments.
